Ensō

Brand Conceptualisation & Identity Design

The brief given was to come up with a concept for a Japanese Whisky brand for the Indian market. The story, name and identity of the brand was supposed to by synonymous with Japanese Culture & Philosophy.

Inspiration for the same was drawn from the Zen principles of Japanese aesthetic.

Ensō

Out of uninhibited limitations comes a power so contagious that it has to pass on.

It passes on, for as long as time is born.

Symbolic of absolute strength, only he who is complete can further go on.

'Ensō' is a an element of zen principles from the Japanese aesthetic, which denotes a circle that is hand-drawn in one or two uninhibited brushstrokes to express a moment of mindfulness - which is unique for every individual. It symbolises absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe and the void. The name and concept resonated perfectly well with the brand as it is symbolic of the same unique values with which the product, Ensō Japanese Whiskey is crafted.
